Ty's Best Friend Hanna Visits
My friend from Denmark - Hanna - came to visit us in October and we had a lot of fun with her here. Ty instantly fell in love with her and still talks about her and thinks that people we see with blond hair is her. We took her for a little ride in the mountains to show her all the gorgeous scenery.
Of course my picture are out of order, so these pictures are from Bridal Veil Falls that we actually saw at the very end of our little trip.
We started driving up Emigration Canyon and just drove around back in the mountainous areas, drove through Heber City...
...drove down through American Fork Canyon and then home.
The river right next to Bridal Veil Falls.
We stopped by Bridal Veil Falls on the way back.
Of course we had to stop at the cute retro ice cream shop in Heber City, where we went with my dad a while back.
Mmmm, yummy ice cream and shakes.
Ty enjoying his ice cream for a second and then he wanted the shake Laney got....
Beautiful view....but see that cloud of smog in the background between the mountains? Yes, that's the smog over the Salt Lake valley!!! Yummy, let's go back and breathe it a little more.
2 Danes in the mountains in Utah
Hanna was very happy to be here!!! :D
Gorgeous views up in the mountains.

St. George
In October we went down to St. George for the weekend to go to little Matthew Nash's baby blessing. It was great to see everybody down there in the warm south and enjoy the beautiful weather. We left our long sleeve shirt and pant and took shorts and t-shirts instead.
Chad took us to Red Cliffs and we loved the beautiful scenery. Joel found a lizard that Ty was brave enough to hold.
Ben lost his body....except for his head and arm!!
Cute little Matthew
Ty and Ben going exploring.
Some of the clan hanging out
Ben and the kids relaxing on the red cliffs.
Ben generously holding up the huge rock so Ty can get safely to the other side.
Going exploring in the fun rocks.

The Canyons in September
One of the last days in September we drove up the Little Cottonwood Canyon and Big Cottonwood Canyon to see the beautiful fall leaves and the pretty mountains. We stopped at 2 waterfalls, one in each canyon. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the gorgeous views.
Ty excited about the beautiful fall leaves
Coming back from one of the waterfalls you can walk across this log to get to the other side.
We stopped at one of the ski resorts because Ty wanted to get out and walk in the snow.
Evey time I asked Ty to turn around so I could take a picture of him, he would turn around and dance and sing some silly song...
Beautiful Laney
Crazy kids
Cute kids posing by the first waterfall.

Church Ball
Ben played basketball at the church last night and fell on somebody, twisted his ankle, heard his ankle *POP* and then he couldn't walk on it. He came hobbling home and put ice on it but this morning it still hurt so we took him to the doctor. He has a fractured fibula and got a cast on for the next 4 weeks. He will get it off just in time to play volleyball with his family for thanksgiving...haha
Maybe it's time to stop playing basketball at the church....a couple of months ago he came home with a black eye....lol

Guldkorn
Ty gave me a bread box for my birthday and when I opened it he was very excited and said...."It's a toast-putter-in." Later he heard it was called something else and so when I said goodnight to him I told him thanks for the toast-putter-in and he said..."No!! it's called a....a....toast holder". And we don't even eat toast very much.
Yesterday we took Laney to school and as we pulled out of the parking spot to take Ty to school, Ty told me, "Mom, I saw an old lady and she didn't even have a walking stick or a wheelchair."
We were eating lunch and Laney said to me, "Mom, I know where we get jelly from. From jellyfish!"

Camp Out at Rockport Reservoir
The snake that was hanging out at our campsite. Good thing it was just a garden snake...(en haveslange hi hi hi :D)
The kids by the fire.
The kids roasting hotdogs on the fire.
Eating yummy s'mores.
Mmmm!! I want a s'more now.
The next day we rented a boat and went out on the reservoir to try to catch some fish.
The kids were terrified of getting in the boat and we couldn't go to fast. But eventually they calmed down and enjoyed it.
My handsome fisherman.
It was a bit chilly and a little rainy at first so we bundled up.
Ben teaching Ty how to put the bait on the hook.
My two handsome fishermen.
YAY!!! Ben caught a rainbow trout. He released it again because he didn't want to clean it and stuff. Later we found out that the people at the boat rental place would have done it for us and then we were kicking ourselves.
Laney the fisher-woman.After we returned the boat we walked on the beach and found a spot where Ben tried to catch some fish. He didn't catch any.....
...but the kids had fun throwing rocks in the water. As we left the reservoir we saw two pelicans hanging out in the water.

Ben the Snake Wrangler
I forgot about all these pictures I have from when we went camping the weekend before Memorial Day. When we got to our little campground the first thing we saw was this snake...Ty had just woken up from a nap in the car and was cold and tired....hence the whining. :D Anyway, I'll have to post the pictures later but here's the video of Ben and the snake.
By the way, this is not the first time Ben has wrangled a snake. A couple of years ago when Ben worked at a Pharmacy in Murray he opened up a box that was in the store and inside was a little snake. Since Ben is such an expert with chopstick (and often feels more comfortable using them when he's cooking....lol) he grabbed two pens and got the snake out of the box and put it outside......and that is why he's known in our family as the snake wrangler. :D

My Babies.....sniff sniff
I knew the day was coming and I thought I was excited about it. But now that it's here, it's a different story.
My little tiny babies are now going to preschool and Kindergarten. Ty started preschool last Monday and was not excited when he got there. But after a couple of days he is now getting really good at going and looks like he's having a lot of fun there. The first time Laney and I had to leave him there and he was crying, I think we all wanted to sit down and cry. He is so cute though, coming out with his HUGE backpack on. He looks like such a big boy suddenly. And all the new songs he's singing at home now....I love it. What a man!!!
And there's Laney. She had her Kindergarten assessment last Monday where her new teacher tests her to see what she knows. Ms Mulder said she's actually ready for 1st grade but we decided to keep her in Kindergarten so she'll be with her peers. What a smarty pants though. She aced her test and we found out later that the teacher even told some of the other parents that there was a really smart girl in the class. She told my friend who was there for her child's assessment and so my friend said, "Yeah Laney, right?!" Anyway, sounds like she will find stuff for Laney to do so she won't be bored. So that's great!
Yesterday we then went to Laney's Kindergarten Invitation (good thing, cause Laney had been waiting for that invitation for a while now....).....wait I mean....oreopolation.......no wait......oreototation.......dang it!.....I mean, orientation. I went really well. Laney was so excited about going to school and has been counting down the days. She was just a little annoyed that I had to stay there on the first day....and by the way, why does she only have to be there for 3 hours? And she doesn't have to eat lunch there???? What??? I told her it's because I would miss her too much....They have to ease the mothers into it. :D
First Day of School...gorgeous girl!
But when we got there she did turn in to her shy self and was too shy to even ask somebody is she could get past them. Oh man, what will she do without me there to help her out?! :D The good thing is that her teacher is about the nicest person on the planet so hopefully she will be comfortable enough to talk to the other kids soon. Luckily she knows 2 of the other kids already. She's just uncomfortable talking in front of the other kids, she told me, but hopefully she will feel more comfortable soon and enjoy going to school. Man, it's hard to let them go!!!
Waiting for Ms Mulder to pick them up outside.
Some of the kids in her class. Her friend Aaron came and stood by her.

One More...
Ty's cousin just got home from his mission and we went and saw him at the airport and then drove out to hear him talk in church. While we were driving out to Nevada to hear him talk I was reminding Ty that he was starting preschool the following Monday.
Nadja - "What day is it today?"
Ty - "Saturday"
Nadja - "So tomorrow is...?"
Ty - "Sunday"
Nadja - "And the day after Sunday is....?"
Ty - "Monday"
Nadja - "And where are you going on Monday?"
Ty - "Mission?"
