Trip to Sønderborg to visit the Cullingfords

The kids watch a movie while we are sitting on the train on our way to visit Wendy, Quentin, Erin and Joshua in Sonderborg.
Wendy, Erin and Joshua picked us up at the train station and the three cousins were giddy and silly all the way home.

The boys watch "Cars"....
...while the girls play with barbies and microphones.

The play uncle is here.....
Friday Mormor, Morfar and Zaki came to Sonderborg. Morfar immediately started entertaining the kids and they all loved it.

Andrea is eating all the kids' food.
Right by Sonderborg there is a castle and in the gardens outside the castle there is a big tree where Hans Christian Andersen used to sit and write his fairy tales.
The kids loved running around ont he castle grounds. My mom and I were walking with them and at one point when we got to a big open grassy area we didn't know where to go because the kids were all walking in opposite directions....it looked really funny. On the way back we found these little white berries that make a popping noise when you step on them. So Mormor picked berries and threw them on the ground and the kids would then step on them. It was a good way to get the kids moving in the right directions to where we were going. (Notice Ty taking a rest in the background.)
Friday we went to Krusmolle where the kids made candles. They also had a nice shop where I could have spent a lot of money....

More Sønderborg

We went for a little walk to the windmill where there was a battle between Germany and Denmark in 1864. Laney with cousins Erin and Joshua.
Even though it's winter and the leaves have fallen off, it's still very green and beautiful.
Ty running amuck as the rest of us are trying to make our way to the windmill.
We thought we lost Erin's kitty scarf, so Quentin went running back looking for it while the rest of us waited. The scarf ended up falling down inside Erin's snowsuit and was resting around her stomach!

Birthday Bash in Sønderborg

We had a birthday party at the church to celebrate all the November birthdays. Nadja's cooking up some dogs for the shindig.
All of us ready to chow! Starting with Nadja and going counter-clockwise around the table: Nadja, Laney, Erin (cousin), Morfar, Mormor, Zaki (Nadja's brother), Joshua (cousin), Wendy (Nadja's sister), Quentin (Wendy's husband), and Tyler-boy.
Erin and Ty had a grand time playing and wrestling.
Tag-teaming boys vs. girls: Ty and Zak getting picked on by Erin and Laney.
The Gram-family.
The girls playing with Ninka the bunny.

The kids having one-last meal before going back to Copenhagen. Thanks for the great weekend!

Another Trip to Copenhagen

On Friday the 16th Ben got off work early and we decided to go to Copenhagen where they were turning on the christmas lights at Kongen's Nytorv. But first we went to see the Little Mermaid and the Gefion Fointain which we didn't have time to see the other weekend when we were in Copenhagen.

Nadja looking down at the tiny Little Mermaid....J/K

The Little Mermaid.

Ben and the kids in front of the Little Mermaid. Right when we were about to take pictures of her this bus full of tourists came and everybody was taking pictures.

The sunset.

The Gefion Fountain. The story goes that the goddess Gefion transformed her four sons into oxen and then plowed the island of Zealand out of Sweden. It left a hole in Sweden where the Vanern Lake is now.

The sun setting behind Kongen's Nytorv.

Laney eating a French Hotdog while listening to the Christmas carols.

The choir that sang Christmas carols and Santa telling the Mayor of Copenhagen to switch on the christmas lights on Kongen's Nytorv.

The lights turning on and the snow machine sending out fake snow. Laney was so excited that it was snowing.

The rest of the lights turning on. It was very pretty.

Playing in Denmark

Laney was so cute. She kept telling Ty to come sit by her so she could read a book to him.

In this picture Ty was really cute. Laney was playing on the table and suddenly Ty just came over and put his little arm around her and just stood there for a while.

Laney and Ty invented a game where they would hug each other and then fall while hugging. It was so nice that they found a game they could play together instead of just fighting about toys and stuff.

Ty is holding his Woody doll whom he has wrapped in a blanket. He just sat there holding him. What a good dad he'll be one day. Cute boy.

Laney and Ty constanly look like raisins because they want to take so many baths. At home I have to beg them to get in their little box to bathe but now they come and ask me every single day if they can get in the tub.

Trip to Ikea

Ty is trying a new technique when eating ice cream. Just stick your whole face in it and lick all around.

Problem is, you get ice cream all over your face.

Laney has this idea that she wants ice cream all the time. It's freezing cold outside but she still asks for ice cream all the time. Luckily this was at Ikea and we were inside.

Of course we had to check out a Danish Ikea. My home away from home. :) In this Ikea you have to be 4 to go to Smaaland, so Laney had to walk around with me. Ty fell asleep, that's why he's not in the pictures. Laney had fun though on the slide.

Cute as a button.

Laney always has to have a little Ikea pencil and a paper to write on when she's there.

Laney wanted to try on the bunny mask they had there. And they didn't have mirror so I took a picture of her so she could see what she looked like.

Roskilde Cathedral

Some of the tombs in the Church.
In this church is where all the kings and queens of Denmark are buried. They date back to around 950 AD!
The main chapel in the church. The tombs/burial sites are in rooms to the sides of this main chapel. People still come to this church to worship, baptism, etc.
