The Bike Experience

So Ben decided that it was time Laney learned to ride her bike without the training wheels. So they practiced a couple of times and set a goal for her to learn within a week. She did pretty good if she was telling Ben something and then when she stopped and started concentrating on riding she would start falling. The funniest was that she was always ready to bail. If the bike started falling a little bit to the side, she immediately had both legs on one side and would jump off...even though Ben was holding on to the bike the whole time. So Ben had a theory of how to help her. He told me on the way home from somewhere that he was going to take the training wheels off Laney's old bike (which is now Ty's) and let her ride on that. When we got home, two minutes after Ben told me this, we saw Laney's little friend riding around on her old bike with no training wheels and doing REALLY well. So having confirmed his theory Ben jumped out of the car and took the training wheels off the little bike, Laney jumped on and off she went. Now she's riding her own bike and doing excellent.

Way to go, Laney! That is great to see you riding your bike like that. And Ben and Ty are good riders as well :) We need to all go on a bike ride together!

Hooray for Laney! That is a big deal to be able to ride your bike by yourself without training wheels. Ben and Ty looked cute out there, riding too! Yippee!

Yeah Laney! I really can't believe how big she is! They are both getting so grown up. Yesterday I said something that Laney always said, and then Adam and I got really sad because we miss her! Why is an extra half hour away seem like so big of a difference?! We miss you guys! Hug those kiddies for me, and don't let them forget how much I love 'em!

Hurray for Laney! And Ty and Ben look like great bike riders too! Poor Karissa didn't learn until she was 7, but with Emily we had a tiny bike, and it made it alot easier to ride without training wheels. I think Emily was 4 when she learned! P.S. Thanks for remembering Karissa on her birthday. She was so excited to check the mail, and how fun to have something from you guys! Such a cute card too..you made our day!
