Ty's birthday is on March 28th, but since we were moving on that day we decided to postpone his birthday a couple of days. Anyway, Ty loves Lightning McQueen and Mack from the movie Cars, so I decided to try making them for his birthday cake. They turned out alright even though they are not as good as Wendy's and Val's.
Here's Ty opening his presents. Laney kept asking him which one she could open, so uncle Zak must have been inspired when he gave the kids a present that was for both of them that she could open. Thanks everybody for all the presents and cards - they were great.
Ty got a train set like the one Mormor and Morfar has in Germany. He loved it and played with it all during the first session of conference.

I had to make a little road to put Ty's candle in. It took a couple of tries for him to blow it out.
Ty decided that he wanted to eat the Lightning part of the cake...
...and Laney wanted to eat Mack's head.

Your cake is freaking sweet, good job, we will hire you to make a cake for Kody's birthday, it looks delicious also, Joel is jealous of that cool train set!!!
You are TOTALLY talented, Nadja! The cakes are awesome....how do you do it? The frosting looks like the 'fondant' (I like saying that word) that you made for Havelah's baby shower.

HOLY TALENT! I'm totally not gonna post Brig's pathetic birthday cake here in a few weeks after seeing yours and Vals! Poor me, dang it! 'Cause Brig's favorite movie is Cars, too, and he LOVES Lightening McQueen and Mater! How can I compete with you all???

Thank you! Yes it is fondant. and yes, come see our house. we love it. And Gup, your purse cake was so cute that I'm sure your Lightning cake will be gorgeous. I did not want to make Mater....that just seemed way too hard.

Ok Nadja, Gavin's cake was not even in the same league as Ty's... that was amazing! And I did get to see and taste a little of Mack, and it was delicious, and Gavin thought the fondant was gum! These boys are all so darn cute! So fun to see you all for a little while the other night! Now we need to get that train set too..it was a blast for all of us!

That was a cake?! They looked like actual toys...from Disney! You should send a picture to Disney and they'll probably send you free Disney movies for a year, or something! That was seriously the best cake ever! Do you think that you could move closer to me because I have a bunch of birthdays coming up and I could use some help in the cake-making department! I loved all the pictures...it looks like Ty's birthday was a success!
