I knew the day was coming and I thought I was excited about it. But now that it's here, it's a different story.
My little tiny babies are now going to preschool and Kindergarten. Ty started preschool last Monday and was not excited when he got there. But after a couple of days he is now getting really good at going and looks like he's having a lot of fun there. The first time Laney and I had to leave him there and he was crying, I think we all wanted to sit down and cry. He is so cute though, coming out with his HUGE backpack on. He looks like such a big boy suddenly. And all the new songs he's singing at home now....I love it. What a man!!!
And there's Laney. She had her Kindergarten assessment last Monday where her new teacher tests her to see what she knows. Ms Mulder said she's actually ready for 1st grade but we decided to keep her in Kindergarten so she'll be with her peers. What a smarty pants though. She aced her test and we found out later that the teacher even told some of the other parents that there was a really smart girl in the class. She told my friend who was there for her child's assessment and so my friend said, "Yeah Laney, right?!" Anyway, sounds like she will find stuff for Laney to do so she won't be bored. So that's great!
Yesterday we then went to Laney's Kindergarten Invitation (good thing, cause Laney had been waiting for that invitation for a while now....).....wait I mean....oreopolation.......no wait......oreototation.......dang it!.....I mean, orientation. I went really well. Laney was so excited about going to school and has been counting down the days. She was just a little annoyed that I had to stay there on the first day....and by the way, why does she only have to be there for 3 hours? And she doesn't have to eat lunch there???? What??? I told her it's because I would miss her too much....They have to ease the mothers into it. :D
First Day of School...gorgeous girl!
But when we got there she did turn in to her shy self and was too shy to even ask somebody is she could get past them. Oh man, what will she do without me there to help her out?! :D The good thing is that her teacher is about the nicest person on the planet so hopefully she will be comfortable enough to talk to the other kids soon. Luckily she knows 2 of the other kids already. She's just uncomfortable talking in front of the other kids, she told me, but hopefully she will feel more comfortable soon and enjoy going to school. Man, it's hard to let them go!!!
Waiting for Ms Mulder to pick them up outside.
Some of the kids in her class. Her friend Aaron came and stood by her.

Its so crazy how fast they grow, and we don't ever realize, I cried when Kalven went to kindergarten as well. Laney is one smart girl! And gorgous too. Ty is a little cutie... nice to have time for yourself huh? Good Job Nadja! Give your kids a hug for us!
Oh, I remember those days. It is so hard to leave them that first time. I was always so brave in front of the kids but as I walked away the tears came...Laney looks beautiful and Ty so handsome--they are both such super kids and will be leaders in all that they do! Love your cute family.
I totally understand the feeling you're going through as we are going through the same phase right now. It is exciting, new and yet at the same time kind of seeing your little ones all grown up and ready to take the world(kindergarten) all by themselves. So now go enjoy your time (free time) doing come catch up!!
:D
Sniff is right! There is just something that pulls at a Mommy's heart strings when you have to let your babies grow up and go to school! It's okay to let out a big WAAAAH! After they are gone.
Dang! What a stinkin cutie!! I can't believe how old Laney looks! And Jason and I can't believe how dark her hair went! I don't think it was that dark the last time we got together?? (It's been so long!!)
Laney is in kindergarten already and Ty in preschool?
