Hygge with Oldemor, Eva and Natasja

After a busy day we went to Oldemor's house to eat dinner and to hygge.
Ty playing with Mr and Mrs Clause.
Oldemor had a little Christmas tree and Laney and Ty wanted to dance around.....It's their danish blood.....
Here they are pulling Ben around, singing "Rudolph, the red-nosed Reindeer".....Laney's favorite christmas song this year.
Afterwards we went to Eva's apartment and had some YUMMY smoothies.
They sure where good. We all had about 5 servings......yum!!!

Viking Ship Museum

We went with Oldemor to the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde. First we watched a movie about the viking ships that they have in the museum. They have 5 that they found in the Fiord right outside the museum.
Here we are looking at the ships. You can kind of the see some of them in the background.
Some of them they had found a lot of them. This one was probably the one where they had the least of it, but it was also the biggest one.
Oldemor, Nadja, Laney and Ty posing by the Viking ships.
Then they had this cool room where they had Viking Ships you could play on and Viking dress up clothes.
We were going to use this one as our Christmas picture but it turned out kind of blurry. But we had a lot of fun dressing up.
Afterwards the kids (and Ben) played for a while on the viking ships.

Rosenborg Castle

This is Rosenborg Castle, situated in the middle of Copenhagen with a beautiful garden around it - called The King's Garden. It was built in 1606 by King Christian the 4th. The castle does not have electric power because of the fire danger. So the castle is only open during hours when it's light enough outside.
In the basement of the castle is the treasury where the crown jewels are and also lots of really pretty things that the royalties have received as presents during the years. This is a ship made out of ivory. Most of the things were made out of ivory, amber and crystal.

Some of the crown jewels. In the basement they had a sound alarm so they told us that if Ty got too loud we would have to take him out or else the alarm would go off and that it takes 2 hours to reset it. Needless to say, I was quite paranoid that Ty would set if off so he and I went outside when he started getting a little vocal.
Hmmm, I don't remember all the details of these crowns but some of the big jewels are taken from another crown that was a lot older.
Oldemor and Laney
So, Ty and I went outside where they had some pigs that Ty thought was the most wonderful thing he had ever seen.
The pigs would just stand right in front of him and eat and Ty would just laugh.
We had a hard time getting him away from the pigs. He could have stood there all day, just studying the pigs.

Family Fun

We were trying to take some fun family pictures. We had fun with it.

Christmas Parties

We were lucky enough to be able to go to 2 Christmas parties. One at Ballerup Ward and one at Soborg Ward. There were very different so it was fun. The first we got to dance around the Christmas tree.

Ben and I took turns. Ty walked around for a little bit and then just plopped down on the floor. It was pretty funny.
He thought it was more fun to stand up on the stand and look at us all dancing around, singing.
Here's Ben trying to control the children. Ty is trying to get back to his favorite spot and Laney wants to dance.
And then after we yelled for Santa to come, he came and danced with us and then handed out treat bags.
Ty couldn't pop the the candy in his mouth fast enough.
Ty and Laney picking something good from their candy bags.
Laney showing what Santa gave her.
Laney playing with Eva.
Later that night we went to Soborg Ward to party some more. First we had traditional Danish Christmas Dinner and then they did a Christmas play.
The play was about the little girl in the orphanage who gets an orange for Christmas. If you don't know the story, you'll have to read it. It's a good one. Anyway, they handed out oranges at the end of the play, and this is Ty peeling his orange.

Laney enjoying all the parties.

Julestue, Christmas Decorations and Lots of Other Fun Things

Waiting for Morfar.
Laney and Ty hanging out the window seeing if they can spot Morfar. Ty was yelling out the window, calling for Morfar.
Morfar came before he traveled around in Norway and Sweden and man did he get a show while he was there. Laney showed him all her "tricks" and Ty was hyper the whole time.
One day he peeled and ate 4 oranges in one sitting.
Ty loves mandarin oranges and he's very good at peeling them too if you start it for him.
Tularoo
Laney made one with a purple candle because she loves purple. I had sprayed some fake snow one the branches and then Laney said, "Let's pretend that the fruit are little animals in the forest and they have snow on them too." I asked her if that meant that she wanted snow on the fruit too and she said yes.
I made a little decoration for the calendar candle. There are the numbers from 1 to 24 on the candle and then you burn a number every day from the 1st till Christmas.
Laney and I make christmas decorations.
The Monday after we come home from Sonderborg we woke up to a little bit of snow. Laney was so excited because as she says, "It snows when it's Christmas."
There's an empty cupboard in the kitchen where Ty likes to hang out with his dinosaurs. Normally Laney and Ty fight over who gets to crawl into the cupboard....
On December 1st, we went to my old school to "Julestue". Where all the classes do something to earn some money, like a restaurant or wheel of fortune kind of thing. There are always lots of old students there. It was fun to go back and see my old school and all the changes.
There was a little fishing pond where you could fish and then the fish had a number on them. Then depending on how many points you had from the fish you got to choose a little toy. The kids had a lot of fun.
