Oh, the Weather Outside Is Frightful....

The night between Sunday and Monday is snowed a whole bunch and so when Laney woke up I told her to look outside. She looked and immediately wanted to go play in the snow. So at 7:30am she got all her snow clothes on and went outside and walked around in the snow for a while.

Ty wanted to put some snow in a glass jar so that he could keep it. I went and got some for him, thinking that it would be fun to see it melt. But both him and Laney kept eating it instead of letting it melt.
Here's the boy with his jar of snow. He was so funny, just carrying that jar all around him, looking at it, eating the snow....My uncle came over later and I wonder what he thought when he saw Ty carrying this jar-o-snow all around.

I told you this kid is accident prone. Now he doesn't just need a helmet, he needs a full body suit. Yesterday, he kept jumping on the couch and Ben kept telling him to stop 'cause he was going to get hurt....lo and behold, a few seconds later he fell and bonked his face on the armrest. He, of course started crying and his nose started bleeding. He kept telling us something that we couldn't understand. He tried to wiggle away from me, but his nose was bleeding so I kept holding him, all the while he kept saying this same word over and over.FINALLY we realized that he was saying band aid. But how the heck do you put a band aid on a kid whose nose is bleeding?? Like this, I guess. It helped anyway - he stopped crying and walked around with a band aid on his upper lip for a while.
Laney never wants band aids. She will bleed all over and still not want a band aid. We can't even look at her owie, she covers it up and screams bloody murder. When she goes to the Dr. in the summer to get shots, I either have to bring something to cover up her leg when we go home or have her wear long pants. It's so interesting how kids are so different.

Halloween

I thought I was so creative when I made some decorations for our table. So before I start writing about the pictures I wanted to tell you what Ty said on Halloween morning. So I was opening the bags of candy for the trick-or-treaters and putting them in bowls, when Ty sees me and said "I have one of those?" pointing to the candy. I told him that it was for the trick-or-treaters who would be coming that night. I was expecting screaming, crying, tantrums but Ty just said "Oh" and ran off. A few seconds later he comes running back with his trick-or-treating bucket, holds it out and with a really naughty smile on his face said "trick-or-treat". Of course, I had to give that cute boy a piece of candy.
We carved our pumpkins the day before Halloween. Laney wouldn't touch the insides of hers but Ty on the other hand didn't mind scooping everything out.

The finished result. Mine is the ghost, Ty's is the spider, Laney's is the cat (obviously they had help...) and Ben thought we needed one traditional face one.The "trick or treaters". Ben had to be dressed up for work so he decided to be a pirate. Laney is a princess barbie with an itchy wig and Ty is an elephant. First they went around in our little sub-division with Laney's bbf Emmy, then they went over to my aunt and uncle's sub-division. Every time they came to a house where they could hear a dog barking Laney and Emmy decided that they didn't need to go to that house.... :)
On the way home Ty told Ben he was tired and so Ben picked him up and by the time the crossed the street Ty was asleep.

Pineapple Joy

This boy loves fruit.
Mmmm, pineapple!!!
Notice the big blue/green bruise. He walked into a display at a store. I don't know what to do with this boy, he walks into everything. When that bruise was finally gone, he ran into the dinner table....!!! And then a couple of days later lost his balance on the step stool and seriously, flew into the corner of the counter!!!

My Two Superheroes

These are my two superheroes!!! Ty kept walking around asking if he could do stuff for me. Please note that their hats are my potholders and theirs capes are my dishtowels.

Wheeler Farm with Joy School

Laney is doing Joy School with some of the kids from the ward, and for one of the field trips we went to Wheeler Farm. We had so much fun. I only posted my two favorite pictures because of my marathon posting today....
I love this picture of Laney and her little best friend. So cute. It wasn't even posed or anything.

Can You Reach Your Nose with Your Tongue?

I can! And so the kids wanted to try as well....here's Laney's attempt....
...and Ty can actually do it too. Yay!! My fellow nose-licker!!

The First Snow of the Season

As you can see the first snow in the valley fell on October 12th, 2008.

Little Weirdos

Okay, so Ben asked Laney if she could hold the two light bulbs for a second and she started dancing around, like this interpretive dance with the light bulbs. So of course, because Laney was doing it Ty wanted to do it too.
Ta-daaaaa!!
The kids were getting out all the winter gear and Ty tried on Ben's hat.

Secrets and Hopscotch

These two love telling secrets....
and playing all day long!

Playing with Water

Our kids just love playing with Ben's nephew, Braiden.

The boys were spraying water out the window through the screen and had lots of fun.

Oktoberfest at Snowbird

We like going to Snowbird in the fall when they have German Oktoberfest and get a bratwurst and pretend we're in Germany. So we went this year and they had all kinds of fun things to do. The kids jumped on a big castle-jumpy-thing.

And slid down...

Then we took the short ski lift up. We didn't tell the kids they were getting on the ski lift 'cause we knew they wouldn't want to. But as soon as we got on it, they loved it.
Then we went and had some bratwurst while listening to the German music in the background. (Notice Ty in the background biting into a pickle...he ate the whole thing.)
Laney eating her overpriced bratwurst!!!
Laney and Ty sharing some cotton candy.
After we were done eating we took the tram up to the top of the mountain and saw these people playing the alphorn. It sounded really cool. I have a little video where you can hear them play. I'll have to put it on later.
Okay, I don't know what this was all about. Laney started posing like this and then Ty thought he should do this too.

The beautiful view of the Salt Lake valley. It was so weird, there were a million ladybugs on top of the mountain. I'm sure we killed a ton of them just walking around. It was really strange.
Ty studying a ladybug on his finger.

There is a tunnel that goes from Snowbird to Alta. Inside there's a rolling sidewalk for the skiers and then a little sidewalk. So we walked through it (it was cold..)........and took the ski lift back down to Snowbird.

Some people that were going up the ski lift told us, when they passed by, that there was a deer on the mountain that we should look for.Cute Laney on the ski lift. Both kids (and me) were freezing until we got closer to the Snowbird Lodge.
Here's my "German" kids dancing around!!!
