Tuesday we went into Pula to see the sights. The peninsula of Istria was conquered by the Romans in 177 BC. The amphitheater in the middle of Pula was built around 27 BC - 68 AD and is one of six of the largest surviving Roman arenas in the world.
I really liked the stairs in the city and also the curbs. They had all these stones that looked like they were put together like puzzle pieces.
Last one, I promise.
All around the city, the Romans built a city wall and to get in and out there were 10 city gates throughout. This one is called the Twin Gate.
Old piece of Roman artifact.
This is The Arch of the Sergians. Another one of the gates leading in to the city.
Ty found this loose piece of stone and wanted to bring it home. I'm a boring mom and told him he better put it back, but not until after he had told me that it looked like a hand with a finger pointing in the direction of the gate. Smart man.
We were getting hot and sweaty and in desperate need of some ice cream. We found a place where the guy did some cool ice cream tricks while he was scooping. We were all very impressed.
Oh and this by the way, is the first time we have bought Nyah her own ice cream. Normally we just share our ice cream with her, but since it was so hot we decided to buy her her own. SHE. LOVED. IT. She had ice cream ALL over but she was in seventh heaven. And everybody who saw her when we were going down the walking street thought she was about the cutest, messiest baby they had ever seen.
The Roman Temple of Augustus. I just think it's so amazing how well preserved these old buildings are. Aamazing!
A piece sitting outside the temple. Again....aaamazing!
As we were walking back to the car, we saw this cool bronze replica of the city of Pula. If you look close or enlarge the picture, you can see the amphitheater in the top of the picture. Pretty cool, if you ask me. After this we went to the beach to swim since we had all lost 20 lbs of water weight.

That is just such an amazing vacation! It totally makes me want to put Croatia on my list of must do's before our move next June:)
Those ruins and artifacts are unbelievable! If 'they' could build things that would last thousands of years, why can't 'they' make nylons that will last more than one week? hmm . . .
And, you have the cutest kids. I miss them!
Oh my goodness, you've been doing some amazingly fun things and going to wonderful places! So neat that you have the opportunity to see such beauty!
