On this fine Wednesday we decided to go to the Aquarium. It was originally an old fort, Fort Stoja, but now it's an aquarium. We saw lots of crabs, starfish, eels and lots of other cool fish. They also had a section with fish you can find in the Adriatic Sea and Ben saw some of the same fish he had seen when he was diving.
I like this starfish guy because it looks like a little man with sunglasses chillaxing against a rock. I love it!
Hmm I forget what kinds of fish these are but these are the babies in the little sacks. They hang there for 9 months until they are ready to come out. It was cool 'cause we could see them moving around in there.
Well, I guess when you are approaching old age, your 30's, your memory starts to dwindle 'cause I can't remember what this little guy was called either but he was cool and weird.
Ty is a fan of the turtles and luckily they had this cool thing where you could pretend to be turtle.
Laney had to give it a go too. The aquarium actually is a turtle rescue center too. We saw a couple of turtles that had been rescued and read about a bunch that they had rescued, rehabilitated and released again. It was very cool and Laney added "Marine Biologist" to her list of future possible occupations.Another starfish.
The grenade room at the old fort.
This little guy was also cool. Again, can't remember the name....but we thought he should be called 'Frog-headed fish'. Doesn't his head totally look like the head of a frog. I stood at that tank forever waiting for the little guy to come out from behind the rock so I could get a decent picture of him. He surely was not one of the faster moving fishies. Before I go on, I have to tell about Laney's little mishap. We were walking around the aquarium and we came to a part where the floor looked a little different. Ty stepped onto the different flooring and fell smack down on his bottom. Then Laney came and did the exact same thing, except she also managed to bonk her head on something (she takes after her mother apparently...if there is something for my head to collide with, it will find it!). Anywho, every body was okay and we walked into a new room with a big open fish tank. Of course, my senile mind can't remember what kind of fish were in it but there was a big sign that said to NOT stick you hands, fingers, feet, or anything else into the fish tank. There was also a step stool kind of bench that kids could stand on so they could see the tank better. Well, Ty and I had moved on to the next room and the next fish and after a while Ben and Laney came in too. Laney's hat was all wet and drying out on the stroller. Apparently Laney had tripped again and her hat had gone flying into the only tank in the whole aquarium where there was a sign telling not so stick your hands in. But Ben, being the ultimate animal lover and not scared jumpy around animals at all, stuck his forbidden hand in there and fished out Laney's hat. What a Dad!! :D
The view from the top of the fort.
Old ruins on top of the fort.
Beautiful Croatia.
After the aquarium I took Nyah home so she could have a nap. Ben took the big kids to the beach where they played and played. After Nyah woke up, she and I went back to the beach. When we came this is how we found Tyler. He denies that he was sleeping but says that he was only relaxing but he sure was hard to get in contact with and when he was done 'relaxing' he was as grumpy as he always is, if he falls asleep during the day. :D
